Frequently Asked Questions

Can you tell me more about the location?

  • The beautiful private venue is about 1.5 hours from San Francisco and the East Bay, as well as 40 minutes from the Santa Rosa Airport (STS).

  • We will use indoor and outdoor spaces for programming.

  • Exact location will be shared upon registration.

What is the landscape like and accessibility of the site?

  • The land is mostly flat with predominantly grassy terrain

  • The distance between the main gathering place and some of the program spaces is about a 5 mn walk

  • The longest distance is from camping to one of the farther program spaces, and is about a 10-15mn walk

  • There is a completely paved parking lot that is a 5mn walk to the center of the site

  • There is a swimmable pond on the property, but because of the amount of people we expect, we will not be able to swim during this event. Sorry!

Will there be bathrooms and/or showers on site?

  • There are commercial bathrooms inside the main building (at the center of the property) with flushing toilets and sinks with running water and soap! Additional porta potties with sinks & soap will be set up at the main camping areas.

  • There will be no showers on site! We recommend personal wipes or a washcloth and some body soap to keep yourself refreshed throughout the weekend. You are welcome to brush your teeth and do your self care routine in the communal bathrooms! We just ask you to be mindful of "hogging a sink” as this is a shared space for all.

What will the weather be like?

  • Please anticipate all different kinds of weather! We could have a very hot weekend that requires sun hats and shorts, or a very cold weekend of rain. We will be sure to update registration as we get closer to the event.

  • Past weather reports for these dates show that in 2023 temperatures were Mid to High 60s into the Low 70s and in 2022  Low 47 High 87

Can you tell me more about my options for overnight accomodation?

  • Camping is encouraged! The property is mostly flat, with dappled shade throughout. Camping is included in the cost of your ticket. You will have to park your vehicle in the parking lot and carry your gear to your campsite — but it will be very close!

  • We also have a variety of glamping options! Click here for images. All prices reflect the cost of each tent for the entire weekend and are not dependant on how many people stay inside each. All glamping options are an additional cost to that of your festival ticket and have limited availability. Please fill out the glamping reservation form if you’re interested.

    • Rainbow Tents - $300 :  These Nylon tents will be set up for your convenience but come empty. You’ll need to BYO camping pads, bedding, and any gear you need. 13ft wide by 8 ft tall.

    • Deluxe Canvas Tents - $500 : These canvas tents come with a queen size mattress and bedding, a night stand, small battery operated light, a jute rug, small stool, and a small storage shelf with basket. 16ft wife by 9 ft tall.

  • RV and/or Van Parking is available for those who bring their own camping vehicle. There are no hookups but people are welcome to sleep in their vehicles in the parking lot. There may be a couple shaded areas for 2-3 camping vehicles by request. Elders will have priority for these spots. Please inquire!

  • If you prefer to stay at a hotel, our site is 15-20 minutes away from Ukiah, where you can find hotels and additional accommodation.

What is the food situation? How will we eat?

  • Friday night (Shabbat) dinner will be provided and is included in the ticket price!

  • Food trucks will be on site for lunch & dinner on Saturday and Sunday - we’ll release their menus as we near the event!

  • Participants can bring their own meals and snacks but there will not be access to a kitchen or refrigeration. And sadly personal stoves are prohibited because of immense fire danger.

  • There is a small market and boutique coffee shop within 1 mile of the retreat center for ice and additional snacks, forgotten items, or home-made ice cream!

Will there be any security at this event?

  • The retreat center provides a security crew, there is a gate, and the location will be kept private except for people that register and pay for tickets. We are open to hiring private security if there is a critical mass of folks that find this would be supportive to their safety.

When does Aravah Sukkot Festival start and end?

  • We invite participants to arrive starting at 3pm on Friday 10/18. We will light the sacred fire on Friday in the late afternoon to commence the weekend’s activities!

  • All programming will complete Sunday afternoon with the closing of the sacred fire, and all guests are requested to be off site by 3pm.

What if I can’t attend for the whole weekend? Is there a day pass?

  • We’d love you to join us even if you cannot attend all weekend. There is a “day-pass” option on our Humanitix ticket sales page.

Like the Willow

The willow (aravah) is one of the four sacred species of Sukkot along with the lulav, etrog and hadas.
The willow, flexible yet resilient, teaches us the art of adaptation, of bending without breaking. As we come together as friends, family and strangers, to celebrate among the stars, we embrace the willow's wisdom – weaving a tapestry of diverse communities and inviting the rich currents of Jewish tradition to flow through us. As we gather, we create a sukkat shlomecha (a shelter of peace), opening our hearts to growth and transformation. We invite you to co-create with us, with one another, and with nature, grounding in the complexity of this moment. We welcome the vulnerability and strength that arises when we come together in our diversity and shared humanity.
